Freedom Programme

The Freedom Programme is being delivered to young people and children who have or are experiencing domestic abuse. Referrals are made from professionals, parents/guardians, carers, and young people can also self-refer. TOKKO delivers 2 different strands of Freedom supporting both victims and working with perpetrators to recognise the impact of their behaviour – change.

The victim strands includes:

  • Freedom for Teenagers (aged 14-18) over 12 weeks
  • Freedom for Women (14-25) over 10-12 week

How the Programme Works

The sessions explore the tactics and traits of a potential perpetrator of abusive relationships or DA (Domestic Abuse). They support victims through:

  • Awareness of healthy and unhealthy relationships
  • Reduction of abuse in the relationship from the victim’s perspective
  • Reduced risk of exploitation and sexual violence
  • Developing confidence, self-esteem and self-worth amongst victims.
  • Recognising and understanding behaviours and potential future risks

It is not just open to young women but also young men, as we recognise that abusive relationships affect all (this also can include same sex couples).

The Perpetrator strand (Freedom for Teenagers) targets male perpetrators aged 14-18 (up to 24 with SEND) with group sessions delivered over 2 days. This strands works to support identifying, recognising and challenging their behaviour. Please note there is a charge for the Freedom for Men strand please contact for further information.
