Mentoring

Mentoring is about supporting and encouraging young people in a non-clinical way. TOKKO’s mentoring is designed to support and encourage young people 11-24 to manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential, develop their skills, improve their performance and become the person they want to be.

Mentoring sessions look at the individuals wellbeing, self-esteems, behaviours, influences, challenges and barriers, helping them to understand and evaluate different ways to approach their difficulties with a youth work focuses approach.

If you are struggling with something in your life and you would like to explore mentoring please get in touch and see how we can support you.

What is involved in mentoring?

Mentoring involves talking with a qualified youth worker to explore and work on options available to you. This doesn’t have to be in a structured meeting but can happen whilst undertaking activities which interest you. This could include: Art, Cooking, Gaming, Sports or activities which make you feel at ease and comfortable to discuss current barriers which are impacting on you.

Mentoring is predominantly conducted on a one-to-one basis with the opportunity to then get involved in other suitable group project at TOKKO. Mentoring is tailored to the individual young person with a minimum commitment of weekly meetings of approximately an hour over 6 weeks. Mentoring can happen at a location that suits you. This could be at home, school, college, in the community or of course you are welcome in the TOKKO building.
