The Young Parents (aged 14-25 in Luton) project provides a specialised tailored programme specific to the individual needs of young parents and young parents to be in Luton.
The Young Parents Engagement Specialist provides guidance, support and advice on a range of issues and difficulties that young parents may face daily, including housing; knowing what benefits they are entitled to; going back to education and finding work to name a few. The Young Parents worker also supports individuals that are experiencing abusive relationships and will be an advocate for them during meetings with other professionals including CP (Child Protection); CIN (Child in Need); TAF (Team around the Family) and any other meeting where they may need additional emotional support.
They can also refer the young parents on to other suitable agencies that can provide additional support. Working closely with Early Help; IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor) and Health Visitors; the project aims to provide the highest quality of support in order to increase opportunities for young parents to lay a firm foundation to build on and to raise their aspirations.
We also offer fun activities and opportunities including days out with other young parents. These are developed with the young parents and have included: the farms, Whipsnade Zoo, the Seaside and local parks and splash parks.
