Tokko Youth Space is committed to providing essential support to Luton’s young people. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and self-motivated Sessional Youth Worker to join our dynamic team during a pivotal period in our organisational growth.

Position Overview:

As a Sessional Youth Worker at Tokko Youth Space, you will play a pivotal role in engaging and supporting young people through a structured and creative youth work programme. This sessional role is perfect for someone who is enthusiastic about making a tangible difference in the lives of young people and is flexible to work evenings, weekends and school holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Creative Engagement: Develop and deliver engaging activities that motivate, inspire and support young people
  • Programme Planning: Lead and contribute to specific activities such as sports and creative arts; aligning them with the youth work curriculum and accredited frameworks.
  • Youth Development: Support the emotional and social development of young people through informal education; addressing their needs, and enhancing their skills, confidence, and knowledge.
  • Risk Management: Conduct thorough risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and participate in evaluating the effectiveness of programmes, to ensure they meet the needs of local young people.

 

Your Skills:

  • Experience working with young people aged 13-19 in a statutory or voluntary youth work setting.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills with the ability to engage vulnerable and disengaged young people.
  • Creative design and delivery of effective group and one-on-one interventions.
  • Outstanding organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise workload and keep precise records.
  • Qualified with an up to date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
  • A solid foundation of core youth work principles and relevant legislation.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
