Further information for professionals
The Young Parents’ Project is a vital support initiative for young mothers and fathers aged up to 25 yrs in Luton, including those preparing for parenthood. Designed to provide tailored guidance and support as young parents navigate the challenges of housing, benefits, education, and employment, the project empowers young families to thrive, fostering resilience and strengthening connections that last a lifetime.
The project offers a safe space for young parents, especially those facing difficult relationships. It provides access to resources like the Freedom Programme, which empowers individuals to regain control of their lives. The dedicated Young Parent team also offers advocacy by attending critical meetings such as Child Protection (CP), Child in Need (CIN), and Team Around the Family (TAF), ensuring parents receive consistent support.
The project collaborates with health professionals, mental health services, and speech and language therapists to ensure that families receive holistic care, focusing on the well-being of both parents and their children. Young Parents also have the opportunity to gain peer support and a better understanding of child health and development through the Tokko Totz stay-and-play sessions, where they and their children (ages 0-5yrs) can connect, play, and build a supportive community.
